Marc Marquez continued his dominant form at the 2025 French MotoGP by topping the second practice session at Le Mans and breaking the lap record on his factory Ducati.
After leading FP1 by nearly six-tenths, the eight-time world champion carried his momentum into the afternoon, posting a 1m29.855s to top the timesheets and secure a clean sweep on Friday.
Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo impressed again, finishing second just 0.177s behind Marquez, building on his strong Spanish GP performance. Pecco Bagnaia rounded out the top three, 0.184s off the pace, making it a solid day for the factory Ducati team.
Quartararo had initially led the session on a fresh soft tyre with a 1m30.222s, but Marquez responded moments later with his record-breaking lap, which remained unchallenged through to the chequered flag.
Fermin Aldeguer was fourth, ahead of championship leader Alex Marquez, who could only manage fifth and was the second-slowest of the six Ducati riders.
Pramac Yamaha’s Jack Miller secured sixth, ensuring both Yamahas will head straight into Q2. KTM’s Pedro Acosta took seventh, while Tech3’s Maverick Vinales, who crashed at Turn 9, was eighth.
Franco Morbidelli claimed ninth for VR46, and Marco Bezzecchi snatched the final Q2 spot for Aprilia, narrowly edging out Honda’s Luca Marini by 0.053s.
LCR Honda’s Johann Zarco crashed and ended up 12th, with Enea Bastianini and Joan Mir also outside the top ten after Mir suffered a late fall.
Trackhouse Aprilia’s Ai Ogura and KTM’s Brad Binder also went down during the session, finishing 16th and 19th respectively.
