Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, and Charles Barkley drafted their teams as honorary captains under the event’s new format. “Team Chuck” boasts dominant size with Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Victor Wembanyama, who is making his All-Star debut. O’Neal’s squad features Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Davis, whom he selected third, reuniting him with James after Davis’ recent trade from the Lakers to the Mavericks.
NBA scoring leader Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (32.8 PPG) will play for Team Chuck. The All-Star format has shifted to a four-team tournament, with two semifinals and a final. The fourth team, “Team Candace,” led by WNBA legend Candace Parker, will feature top first- and second-year players alongside G League stars.
