Franco Morbidelli set the fastest time on Day 2 of the Sepang MotoGP test, leading Fabio Quartararo by just 0.1s. Riding last year’s Ducati GP24 for VR46, Morbidelli clocked a 1m57.210s lap early in the session, a time that remained unbeaten as most riders shifted to longer runs in the afternoon. Quartararo, showing strong form for Yamaha, secured second place, followed by Gresini’s Alex Marquez and rookie Fermin Aldeguer.
Despite light drizzle in the final hours, Francesco Bagnaia climbed to fifth with a late flyer, just ahead of Honda’s Joan Mir. KTM’s Pedro Acosta finished seventh, with Pramac Yamaha’s Miguel Oliveira and Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi rounding out the top nine, all breaking the 1m58s barrier. Jack Miller completed the top 10, capping off a solid day for Pramac and Yamaha.
Marc Marquez had a quiet session, ending 14th and 1.2s off the pace. Meanwhile, Jorge Martin, Raul Fernandez, and Fabio di Giannantonio missed the session after undergoing surgeries following separate crashes on Wednesday. To compensate, Aprilia and Ducati relied on test riders Lorenzo Savadori and Michele Pirro for data collection.
The Sepang test concludes with teams gathering crucial insights ahead of the 2025 MotoGP season, with Morbidelli’s strong performance marking an impressive debut for VR46.
