Indian badminton star PV Sindhu has pulled out of the 2025 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships (BAMTC), postponing her return to competition following her recent marriage.

The two-time Olympic medalist cited a hamstring injury sustained in training on February 4 as the reason for her withdrawal. “It is with a heavy heart that I won’t be traveling with the team for BAMTC 2025. Despite my efforts to push through, an MRI revealed I need more time to recover,” Sindhu shared on social media.
Her absence is a setback for Team India, which is training in Guwahati and aims to improve on its bronze-medal finish from the last edition. India, placed in Group D, will face Macau on February 12 and South Korea on February 13 in Qingdao, China.
Sindhu’s decision comes just weeks after she married Hyderabad-based businessman Venkata Datta Sai in an intimate ceremony at Rajasthan’s Raffles Udaipur Resort. While she won’t be on court for BAMTC, she remains hopeful for a strong comeback once fully fit.
