Alwi Farhan: Rising Indonesian Badminton Star 

Indonesia’s triumph at the 2025 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships has put the spotlight on its rising players, including Alwi Farhan. The 19-year-old shuttler played a key role in the final against China, securing a vital men’s singles victory over Hu Zhe An with a commanding 21-15, 21-13 win. His performance helped Indonesia take a 2-0 lead, setting the stage for their eventual title win. 

Born in Surakarta on May 12, 2005, Alwi has been making waves in the badminton world. He is currently ranked 43rd in men’s singles, according to the Badminton World Federation (BWF). Since starting his international career in 2017, he has won several junior titles, including the YONEX Korea Junior U-13 and the 2019 Jaya Raya Junior U-15. 

One of his most notable achievements came in 2023 when he clinched the BWF World Junior Championships title, defeating China’s Hu Zhe An in a thrilling three-game final (21-19, 19-21, 21-14). With his talent and steady rise in rankings, Alwi is seen as a promising star for Indonesia’s badminton future.
