Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim commended his team’s resilience after they battled to a 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
United overcame an early defensive error to take a 2-1 lead, only to be reduced to 10 men when Patrick Dorgu was sent off. Ipswich capitalized on their numerical advantage to equalize just before halftime, but United held firm in challenging conditions to secure three vital points.
“I’m not frustrated today,” Amorim said post-match. “We controlled the game from the start, created chances, and scored two goals. The red card changed things, but the fight from the players and support from the fans made the difference. We fully deserved the win.”
Despite the victory, Amorim was unimpressed with Alejandro Garnacho’s reaction to being substituted following Dorgu’s dismissal. The young Argentine walked straight down the tunnel instead of joining his teammates on the bench.
“It was cold, wet, and rainy,” Amorim explained. “We needed to adjust to a 5-3-1 formation, and I had to consider set pieces. It was my decision, but I’ll talk to Garnacho about it.”
United’s hard-fought win moves them further away from the relegation zone, and Amorim will now shift focus to the next challenge ahead.
