Marquez Brothers Dominate Thai MotoGP Warm-Up Ahead of Main Race

Marc Marquez and his younger brother Alex continued their dominance in Thailand, topping the timesheets in the morning warm-up ahead of this afternoon’s Thai MotoGP.

Marc, riding for the factory Ducati team, clocked the fastest time with an advantage of 0.362 seconds over Alex, who is on a Gresini Ducati. Francesco Bagnaia, the reigning world champion, finished third, mirroring the Sprint race podium from Saturday.

With Marc Marquez securing pole, winning the Sprint, and now leading warm-up, he heads into the main race as the clear favorite to complete a flawless debut weekend with Ducati. However, all eyes will be on Bagnaia to see if he can mount a challenge.

Tyre Strategies & Race Conditions

Following Saturday’s scorching conditions, where the track temperature hit an unofficial MotoGP record of 37°C during the Sprint race, Sunday’s warm-up began at 34°C. Tyre choices remain a crucial factor, with most riders opting for a hard front and soft rear combination.

Notably, the Marquez brothers, Bagnaia, and VR46 teammates Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio, along with Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi, all ran the soft front tyre in warm-up. Meanwhile, Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse) and Fabio Quartararo (Monster Yamaha) opted for the hard front.

Rookie Somkiat Chantra (LCR) was the only rider to run a medium rear tyre in the Sprint, but the medium rear was more widely used in the warm-up session.

Grid Penalties & Race Start Time

Both Chantra and Morbidelli will serve a three-place grid penalty for obstructing other riders during Friday’s practice session.

The 26-lap Thai Grand Prix is set to start at 3:00 PM local time, with Ducati looking strong and Marc Marquez aiming to complete a dream debut weekend with his new team.
