MotoGP: Fermin Aldeguer Draws Comparisons to Marc Marquez

Rising MotoGP star Fermin Aldeguer is being likened to eight-time world champion Marc Marquez after his performance data revealed striking similarities to the legendary rider.

The 19-year-old Spaniard, who replaced Marquez at Gresini this season, has posted statistics that closely mirror those of Marquez on last year’s Ducati machine. Gresini crew chief Frankie Carchedi, who previously worked with Marquez, analyzed Aldeguer’s data and was impressed by his potential.

“He said some of the things I saw in this data resembled Marc Marquez,” said former World Superbike champion Neil Hodgson. “But we’re still trying to understand why he’s not been consistent.”

Despite his talent, Hodgson believes Aldeguer’s temperament could be holding him back. “When things don’t go well, he gets frustrated quickly. He needs to learn to stay calm and not panic,” he added.

Former MotoGP rider Michael Laverty echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the significance of the comparison. “When people who worked with one of the fastest riders of all time look at his data and say, ‘You’re doing something similar to Marc,’ that’s a big deal,” he said.

Aldeguer finished 13th in both the sprint and main races at the Thai Grand Prix after starting from 15th on the grid.
