Alex Marquez: Factory Ducati Rivals Are “Half a Step Ahead”

Alex Marquez believes Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia are “half a step ahead” of him as the 2025 MotoGP Argentina Grand Prix approaches.

The Gresini rider had a strong start to the season in Thailand, securing runner-up finishes in qualifying, the sprint, and the grand prix. He currently holds second in the standings, trailing his brother Marc by eight points.

While the GP24 Ducati he rides is similar to the factory bikes, Marc Marquez and Bagnaia have benefitted from engine upgrades since the Thai GP.

Alex explained that the factory riders have “a little bit of everything more under control,” particularly highlighting Bagnaia’s experience with the bike.

“We’re getting closer, but these two guys still have a small edge,” he said. “Marc has his strengths, Pecco has his, and we need to analyze and improve to match them.”

In 2023, Alex Marquez claimed his first MotoGP pole and a podium at the Argentina GP.

When asked about Marc’s prediction that he would win races this year, Alex joked:

“If he lets me, yeah. But seriously, we’re doing things the right way. With patience, the wins will come—no rush, everything has its time.”
