Marc Marquez Warns Brother Alex Is “Closer” After Argentine MotoGP Qualifying

Marc Marquez secured pole position for the 2025 MotoGP Argentinian Grand Prix with a historic 1:36 lap at Termas de Rio Hondo, but he acknowledged that his brother, Alex Marquez, is getting closer to matching his pace.

The Ducati Lenovo rider edged out Gresini Racing’s Alex by 0.246 seconds—a slightly larger gap than the 0.146 seconds that separated them in Thailand, where Marc dominated both races. Despite this, Alex believes he has made progress.

“I’m super-happy to be on the front row,” Alex said after Q2. “We’ve improved the rhythm compared to yesterday, and compared to Thailand, we’re a little closer to Marc. We’re only at the second round, so the goal is to keep scoring points and learning from the Sprint.”

Marc highlighted the importance of having a clear track during his record-breaking lap:

“With the first tyre, the traffic made it difficult to judge braking points. But on the second tyre, I pushed alone and rode better. I’m happy with pole and breaking 1:37, but now the focus is on the Sprint and main race,” he said.

With both Marquez brothers starting from the front row, the Sprint race promises to deliver another thrilling battle in Argentina.
