Marc Marquez continued his dominance as a factory Ducati rider by securing his fourth consecutive victory at the 2025 Argentina MotoGP in Termas de Rio Hondo. His latest win came after a dramatic late overtake on his younger brother, Alex Marquez, who had led for most of the 25-lap race. This win marks Marc’s 90th career victory, tying him with Angel Nieto on the all-time win list.
The battle for the lead intensified when Marc, after a small mistake at Turn 1 on lap 4, allowed Alex to take the front. The Marquez brothers were soon joined by Franco Morbidelli of VR46 Ducati, who had opted for a risky soft rear tyre while most of the field chose the medium compound. Despite his impressive pace early on, Morbidelli eventually fell back, leading to a thrilling duel between the Marquez siblings and a fight for third place with Francesco Bagnaia.
Marc made his decisive move with five laps to go, successfully passing Alex and maintaining his lead to the finish line. Meanwhile, Morbidelli managed to hold off Bagnaia by just half a second, securing his first MotoGP podium since 2021.
Johann Zarco, hoping to deliver Honda’s first podium in the post-Marquez era, showed strong early pace. He engaged in a close battle with Bagnaia and Morbidelli but eventually dropped to sixth after Fabio Di Giannantonio overtook him on the final lap.
The race was not without incidents. Marco Bezzecchi collided with Fabio Quartararo at Turn 1, resulting in a heavy crash for the Aprilia rider and forcing Quartararo to the back of the field. The stewards ruled no further action on the incident. Raul Fernandez received a long-lap penalty for causing Enea Bastianini to crash.
Miguel Oliveira, injured after being taken out by Fermin Aldeguer in the Sprint race, returned to Europe for further medical checks. Aldeguer was penalized with a long lap for the main race. Lorenzo Savadori, substituting for the injured Jorge Martin at Aprilia, was unable to start due to a shoulder injury sustained on Saturday.
Marc Marquez’s perfect start to the season continues, but with the competitiveness of Alex Marquez, Franco Morbidelli, and Francesco Bagnaia, the battle for the 2025 MotoGP championship remains fierce.
