Álex Márquez Endures Tough Qatar GP but Holds Valuable Points – Carlo Pernat

Álex Márquez experienced his most challenging race of the 2025 MotoGP season at the Qatar Grand Prix, managing only a sixth-place finish in the main event — a notable drop after consistently finishing second in previous rounds.

The BK8 Gresini Ducati rider had a lackluster start and later got tangled in a collision that damaged his bike. The incident, involving Fabio Di Giannantonio, earned Márquez a Long Lap penalty, which further derailed his chances of competing at the front.

Despite the setbacks, Márquez pushed on, salvaging what he could to finish seventh on the track. He was later bumped up to sixth after Maverick Viñales (Red Bull KTM Tech3) received a post-race penalty for low tyre pressure.

Coming into Losail as the championship leader, Márquez now drops to second in the standings, ending his streak of runner-up finishes since the season began.

Carlo Pernat shared his thoughts on GPOne.com:
“It was a bad race for Álex Márquez. Nobody saw it coming. A poor start, a clash with Di Giannantonio — he admitted his error and accepted the Long Lap. But in the end, he managed to recover some points, and that’s what matters.”
