Jorge Martin has shared a positive update on his recovery journey following the injuries he sustained during the MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix. The reigning world champion, who suffered six broken ribs and a pneumothorax, remains in Qatar under medical observation.
Martin crashed out while running 17th at Turn 14 of the Lusail International Circuit – a fast, sweeping right-hander. Unfortunately, the incident occurred on the racing line, and due to the speed and nature of the section, Fabio Di Giannantonio, who was close behind, was unable to avoid contact.
Di Giannantonio later described the moment as “the worst scene of my life,” visibly shaken by the severity of the accident.
While Martin continues to deal with significant pain, he recently shared a message on social media reassuring fans that his condition is stable.
“Thank you all for the messages and for supporting me through this tough time in my life,” he said. “I’m still in a lot of pain, but everything is under control. I’ll stay in Qatar for a few more days as a precaution, and as soon as I can, I’ll head home to rest and be with my people. Hope it’ll be very soon.”
Martin will miss this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez, where Lorenzo Savadori will once again step in as his replacement for Aprilia Racing, alongside teammate Marco Bezzecchi. This will mark Savadori’s fourth appearance of the season.
