Alex Marquez kicked off his home race weekend in style, setting the fastest time in FP1 at the 2025 Spanish MotoGP in Jerez, despite suffering a small crash at Turn 1. The Gresini Ducati rider, currently second in the championship, rebounded with a late-session push on fresh medium tyres to clock a 1m36.831s—0.357s quicker than older brother and points leader Marc Marquez on the factory Ducati.
Marc encountered technical issues early in the session, including a clutch problem and a suspected oil leak. Still, he managed to set a strong time of 1m37.188s once his settings were adjusted.
Fabio Quartararo put Yamaha in the mix with third, while KTM’s Maverick Viñales and Honda’s Joan Mir completed the top five. Bagnaia, hoping to extend his Jerez winning streak to four, finished seventh behind Jack Miller.
The session saw plenty of movement, with Alex Marquez setting the early pace before his fall, but quickly recovering to retake the top spot. The Spanish GP marks the start of MotoGP’s European leg, with several riders making strong showings—including wildcard Aleix Espargaro on his Honda debut and Johann Zarco placing eighth.
