Paris FC Seal Historic Return to Ligue 1 After 46-Year Absence

Paris FC have secured promotion to Ligue 1 for the first time in 46 years after a 1-1 draw with Martigues on Friday guaranteed them a top-two finish in Ligue 2.

With league leaders Lorient also earning promotion, the French capital will have two representatives in the top division next season for the first time since 1990 — as Paris FC joins city giants Paris Saint-Germain.

This milestone comes amid a transformative period for Paris FC, recently acquired by the family of French billionaire Bernard Arnault. The new ownership has publicly expressed ambitions to elevate the club into the upper ranks of French and European football.

Next season, the club will also make a symbolic move from Stade Charléty to Stade Jean-Bouin, located just across from PSG’s iconic Parc des Princes, setting the stage for an exciting intra-city rivalry in Ligue 1.
