Man Utd Aim to Finish Off Bilbao and Book Europa Final Spot

Manchester United are poised to seal a Europa League final berth as they prepare for the second leg of their semi-final against Athletic Bilbao. After a dominant 3-0 first-leg win in Spain, only a collapse would prevent a likely final clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite a turbulent season domestically — including their 16th league defeat on Sunday against Brentford and sitting 15th in the table — United remain focused on Europe. Manager Rúben Amorim, who rotated heavily at Brentford, made it clear: “Thursday is the key game. The end of this season is hugely important.”

Victory in the Europa League would not erase their Premier League struggles, but it would guarantee Champions League qualification, bringing both financial and recruitment advantages.

United’s progress is largely thanks to Bruno Fernandes, whose two goals in the first leg continued his record-breaking run in Europa League knockout ties — now involved in 31 goals across 32 matches since 2009.

Meanwhile, Tottenham, who lead Bodø/Glimt 3-1, also eye the final. A United vs Spurs showdown would mark the sixth all-English final in European competition since 2000.
