Quartararo Breaks Lap Record for Third Straight Pole at British MotoGP

Fabio Quartararo stormed to his third consecutive pole position with a record-breaking lap during qualifying for the 2025 British MotoGP at Silverstone.

Championship leader Marc Marquez initially led the way after the first flying laps, but Quartararo responded with a blistering 1m57.233s on his Monster Yamaha to take pole and set a new lap record.

Alex Marquez was the only rider to get within half a second of the Frenchman. Meanwhile, Francesco Bagnaia edged out his Ducati teammate Marc Marquez to deny him a front-row start for the first time this season.

Fermin Aldeguer and Jack Miller will start alongside Marc on the second row. Fabio Di Giannantonio, Luca Marini, and Johann Zarco, who crashed at the end of Q2, complete the third row.

Franco Morbidelli and Luca Marini advanced through a competitive Q1 session, but no KTM riders made it into the final shootout. Pedro Acosta had only one bike after his earlier crash in final practice, while Maverick Vinales faced technical issues during Q1, ending his chances.

The 10-lap Sprint Race is scheduled for 4pm local time.

Ai Ogura has withdrawn from the rest of the weekend due to a leg injury sustained on Friday.

Aleix Espargaro, winner at Silverstone in 2023, is making his second wild-card appearance of the season with HRC.

Somkiat Chantra returns to action following arm pump surgery, while Lorenzo Savadori continues to replace injured reigning world champion Jorge Martin at Aprilia.

Enea Bastianini, last year’s double winner at Silverstone, will serve a long lap penalty in Sunday’s main race for a collision with Bagnaia at the French Grand Prix.

Franco Morbidelli also carries a three-place grid penalty for Sunday after obstructing Marco Bezzecchi during Friday’s session.
