Fabio Quartararo has opened up about his MotoGP future, saying he remains committed to Yamaha — but won’t hesitate to leave if the project doesn’t deliver results.
Speaking to DAZN, the former world champion said:
“I really believe a lot in that project, but I know that if it doesn’t work out I will go to a project that is already ready.”
Quartararo is currently the highest-paid rider on the grid, with a reported €12 million per season deal at Yamaha, lasting until the end of 2026.
After winning the 2022 championship, Yamaha struggled while Ducati took control of the premier class. However, Yamaha’s fortunes are beginning to change. The addition of the Pramac team has doubled their resources, and recent improvements are evident.
Quartararo secured three consecutive pole positions, highlighting the bike’s speed. Though Yamaha still lags behind Ducati in race pace and straight-line performance, the Frenchman nearly won the British Grand Prix — until a ride height device failure forced him to retire from the lead, leaving him in tears.
Despite setbacks, Quartararo remains hopeful.
“Dealing with the Japanese has always been good, sometimes too slow,” he admitted. “But those who are here have already become a bit European as well.
“We’re not going to wait two months to test improvements anymore. If the changes work, we put them in immediately.”
With his future at a crossroads, Quartararo’s message is clear: Yamaha has his trust — for now.
