Bagnaia Told Fixing Ducati GP25 Issues Will Take Time

Pecco Bagnaia has been told there’s no quick solution to his ongoing struggles with the 2025 Ducati GP25, despite its reputation as the best bike on the MotoGP grid.

Ducati initially decided against using a new engine that both Bagnaia and Marc Marquez had tested and disliked. Since then, Bagnaia has faced persistent issues with front-end feel and tyre wear.

Speaking after the Silverstone sprint race, Bagnaia admitted that both he and Marquez voiced similar concerns during a Ducati team meeting.

“At this track, Alex Marquez is making the difference with the GP24,” Bagnaia said. “He’s doing what I did last season. This season I can’t do it.”

He added that he used up his rear tyre completely during the sprint and was easily overtaken by Johann Zarco, saying, “It was like I was in Moto2. It was a shame.”

Although Bagnaia continues to search for setup solutions and give maximum effort, he admitted it’s not enough: “The engineers are trying to solve our problems because it’s a failure for all of us if we’re not fighting for the top.”

However, TNT Sports’ Michael Laverty warned that the fix Bagnaia wants isn’t immediate.

“The solution is just one pit box away — the GP24 — but he can’t just take it,” Laverty said. “He wants it back, clearly. But to get the feeling back with the GP25, Ducati will need to re-engineer parts of the bike. It’s not a simple fix.”

Laverty pointed out that Marquez managed to outperform the field consistently until Silverstone, where the GP25’s weaknesses became more apparent. He also noted that Bagnaia’s inability to accelerate properly led to Zarco overtaking him out of Copse due to torque issues and rear tyre spin.

“To fix all these components will take time, analysis, and Ducati’s AI systems,” Laverty added.

Bagnaia, now 72 points behind championship leader Marc Marquez, has expressed growing frustration, recently saying, “I can’t do miracles,” as he urged Ducati to act quickly.

Marquez, who experienced similar issues at Silverstone, still leads the championship by 24 points, with his brother Alex in second — riding a year-old GP24 for Gresini.
