Marc Marquez delivered a commanding performance at the 2025 Aragon MotoGP, topping both Friday practice sessions and leaving the competition in his wake. The factory Ducati rider led the afternoon session by over a second, continuing his push for another perfect weekend at MotorLand.
Marquez, who leads the championship by 24 points over his brother Alex, used medium compound tyres for his race simulation before switching to softs for a late time attack. He widened the gap further with a blistering lap, finishing well ahead of Pedro Acosta and Maverick Vinales.
Alex Marquez secured second place overall, while Brad Binder and Acosta battled hard within the top group. Joan Mir and Johann Zarco gave Honda a boost by climbing into the top six, and KTM kept three riders in the top ten to secure direct Q2 entry.
Francesco Bagnaia had to work to maintain a top ten spot, ultimately finishing ninth. However, Marco Bezzecchi, fresh off a Silverstone win, missed out on Q2 with a late charge from rookie Fermin Aldeguer pushing him out.
It was a disastrous opening day for Fabio Quartararo. After three consecutive poles, the Yamaha rider struggled with handling issues throughout both sessions. He ended the day in 18th place and will need to fight through Qualifying 1 on Saturday.
