Jack Miller’s MotoGP future hangs in the balance as he enters a critical stretch of the 2025 season, with reports indicating that Yamaha will use the run-up to the summer break to determine whether the Australian will retain his seat at Prima Pramac Yamaha for 2026.
The recent confirmation of Toprak Razgatlioglu’s move to MotoGP with Pramac Yamaha has intensified competition for the second spot in the team. The double WorldSBK champion will make history as the first Turkish rider in MotoGP, arriving on the back of a stellar title-winning campaign with BMW and a prior championship with Yamaha in 2021.
Currently, Miller’s teammate Miguel Oliveira holds a provisional claim to the remaining seat, thanks to a contractual option. However, the Portuguese rider’s injury-plagued season, which has yielded only three points, has opened the door for Miller to stake his claim.
Despite being 16th in the championship standings, Miller’s strong technical feedback on the improved M1 package has reportedly earned him continued support within Yamaha. His best result so far — a fifth-place finish at COTA — matches that of factory Yamaha rider Alex Rins, reinforcing his value beyond just race results.
According to Motorsport.com, Yamaha is prepared to allow Miller until the summer break to prove he deserves the seat over Oliveira, despite the latter’s contractual advantage.
If Pramac Yamaha ultimately opts for Oliveira, Miller could shift his focus to WorldSBK. He has previously expressed interest in the series, even making wildcard appearances in the Australian Superbike Championship and committing to the Suzuka 8 Hours with Yamaha this year.
A possible return to Honda — the brand that gave him his MotoGP debut with LCR — is also rumored. That option may be strengthened by talks that could see former MotoGP rider and Miller’s close friend Cal Crutchlow take a management role in Honda’s WorldSBK project.
