Marco Bezzecchi led the morning warm-up for the 2025 Italian MotoGP at Mugello, putting Aprilia on top with a 0.094s margin over Sprint winner and pole-sitter Marc Marquez.
Bezzecchi, who finished sixth in Saturday’s Sprint, used a medium front and soft rear tyre combination to set the fastest time in the ten-minute session. Behind him, a tightly packed top five saw Fabio di Giannantonio, Alex Marquez, and Franco Morbidelli all finish within 0.387s of the leader.
In contrast, reigning home GP winner Francesco Bagnaia continued to struggle. After a frustrating third-place finish in the Sprint, the Ducati factory rider slumped to 19th in the warm-up, nearly a full second off Bezzecchi’s pace.
Sunday’s main race will see several teams showcasing special liveries — including Ducati Lenovo, VR46, Pramac, and Aprilia — adding extra flair to the home race atmosphere at Mugello.
Rookie Ai Ogura returns to competition this weekend after missing Aragon due to leg injuries sustained at Silverstone. Meanwhile, Luca Marini remains absent following a Superbike testing crash at Suzuka. Honda test rider Takaaki Nakagami continues to fill in for the injured HRC rider.
Aprilia also fields test rider Lorenzo Savadori again as a stand-in for the recovering reigning world champion Jorge Martin.
Though no new top speed records were set during warm-up, the Mugello circuit still holds the all-time MotoGP record of 227.5 mph (366.1 km/h), set by Brad Binder in the 2023 Sprint and later matched by Pol Espargaro in 2024.
