Alex Marquez has completed surgery on the fracture to his left hand sustained in a crash with Pedro Acosta during the Dutch Grand Prix at Assen. The Gresini Ducati rider, currently second in the MotoGP standings, suffered a subcapital fracture of the second metacarpal on lap six of Sunday’s race.
Gresini Racing confirmed the surgery was successful and noted that further updates on Marquez’s recovery and potential participation in the upcoming German Grand Prix (July 11–13) will be shared soon.
Meanwhile, factory Honda rider Luca Marini is set to return to action after being sidelined with injuries sustained during a test at Suzuka. Marini will take part in a two-day private test at Brno this week as he continues his recovery, marking his first time back on the RC213V since the incident in late May.
