Jorge Martin confirms Brno MotoGP return after successful Misano test

Reigning world champion Jorge Martin has officially confirmed his MotoGP comeback after completing a successful private test aboard the Aprilia RS-GP25 at Misano on Wednesday.

Riding a MotoGP machine for the first time since his crash in Qatar, Martin completed 64 laps—29 in the morning and 35 in the afternoon—and declared his intent to race at next weekend’s Czech Grand Prix in Brno.

“I’m really happy to be here. It’s been a difficult journey,” Martin said. “Finally, after more than three months I’m back on a MotoGP bike, so I’m super happy. This is the most important thing.”

Martin’s 2025 season was derailed early, missing pre-season testing due to wrist and hand injuries, and suffering further fractures in a Supermoto accident before the Thai GP. His only grand prix appearance came at Lusail, where a crash left him with rib fractures and lung trauma.

After easing back into track action last week with an RSV4 Superbike in Barcelona, the Misano test—permitted under updated MotoGP rules for injured riders—proved decisive.

Aprilia has since confirmed that Martin will travel to Brno pending medical clearance.

“The plan is to come back in Brno,” Martin said. “I hope everything goes well this week, I can train in normal circumstances, and I hope to see you all there.”
