Marc Marquez was involved in a dramatic moment during Czech MotoGP qualifying in Brno, crashing at Turn 13 while pushing hard to close a 0.2s gap to teammate Francesco Bagnaia. The incident occurred just moments after Johann Zarco crashed at the same corner.
Despite fears of a possible penalty due to yellow flags, replays and Marquez himself confirmed no flags were shown at the time. He explained that smoke from Zarco’s fall briefly distracted him, causing him to run wide and lose the front.
“I’m OK. It was more of a distraction. I saw smoke and just lost focus for a second,” Marquez said.
Fortunately, he still secured second place on the grid behind Bagnaia and ahead of Fabio Quartararo. Marquez will now aim for his ninth consecutive race win this weekend, having dominated recent rounds.
