Pecco Bagnaia’s Brno MotoGP Sprint Ruined by Misleading Tyre Warning

Ducati has revealed more details behind the electrical issue that disrupted Pecco Bagnaia’s performance during the MotoGP Czech Grand Prix sprint race in Brno.

Bagnaia, who started from pole and was targeting at least a second-place finish, experienced dashboard warnings indicating low front tyre pressure on lap 5. As a result, he slowed down, fearing a penalty, and eventually crossed the line in seventh place.

Post-race data confirmed the tyre warning was inaccurate, caused by a malfunction in the bike’s electronics. Ducati engineer Gabriele Conti shared in their ‘Inside’ series that the issue began on the sighting lap, and while the team attempted a fix on the grid, it unintentionally led to another undetectable error.

Conti explained it was a confusing situation for Bagnaia and acknowledged the team’s fault, stating, “We are sad for this. But anyway, the performance was good, so [it was] our fault, I apologise to Pecco.”

Marc Marquez also encountered a tyre pressure alert but his was legitimate. He managed it effectively, won the sprint, and was later cleared after an error with race direction’s monitoring system triggered a brief investigation.
