Gresini’s Michele Masini Reveals Marc Marquez’s Lasting Influence on Team Success

Gresini Racing’s remarkable rise in the 2025 MotoGP season has been significantly shaped by the legacy of Marc Marquez, according to Sporting Director Michele Masini.

Marc’s switch from Repsol Honda to Gresini in 2024 — joining younger brother Alex — not only reignited his own career, but left a lasting impact on the entire team. His experience and direct approach to problem-solving helped elevate the technical and strategic standards at Gresini.

“Marc is really demanding, but he knows immediately what the issue is and how to solve it. His clarity and weekend vision made a huge difference,” Masini told Crash.net.

Though Marc has now moved to the factory Ducati team for 2025, his methods have continued to benefit Alex, who currently sits second in the riders’ standings behind Marc, with Francesco Bagnaia in third.

Masini credits Marc’s influence with helping sharpen the entire garage — a united environment where riders and engineers openly share data and feedback, unlike the more divided structure of some factory teams.

“Everyone says ‘the little brother’ or ‘living in the shadow’ of Marc, but Alex used that experience to learn and improve,” said Masini. “We all grew from it.”

He also praised both brothers for their positive personalities and professionalism, saying they bring lightness to the paddock but remain laser-focused on racing.

With rookie Fermin Aldeguer also contributing valuable points, Gresini currently sits second in the teams’ championship. Masini says the goal now is consistency and composure heading into the critical final rounds.

“Let’s keep calm, stay constant, and maybe—why not—think even bigger at the end.”
