Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig in a deal worth up to £74 million (€85 million), according to reports from the BBC, The Athletic, and Sky Sports.
The Red Devils will pay an initial €76.5 million with an additional €8.5 million in performance-related bonuses.
Sesko, 22, had drawn interest from Newcastle United—potentially eyeing him as a replacement for Alexander Isak amid Liverpool’s interest—but has chosen to join United, drawn by the stature of the 20-time English champions despite their absence from European competition next season.
His arrival marks the final piece in United’s attacking overhaul, following the signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo earlier in the summer. With all three forwards combining for 58 goals last season, United hope this attacking trio can rejuvenate their front line, which managed just 44 goals in 38 Premier League matches last season—their lowest finish in 51 years, ending 15th.
Sesko had previously attracted interest from Arsenal and impressed during his two-year spell in Germany, scoring 39 goals in 87 appearances for Leipzig, including 21 in the most recent campaign.
Standing at 1.95m (6ft 4ins), Sesko is known for his pace, physical presence, and goal-scoring instinct—traits that have seen him compared to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. Like Haaland, he also rose to prominence at RB Salzburg before moving to the Bundesliga.
United’s combined investment in Cunha, Mbeumo, and Sesko now exceeds £200 million. With pressure mounting due to financial sustainability regulations and the lack of European revenue, these signings will be expected to deliver results swiftly.
