Marc Marquez says it makes no difference who he’s battling on track, as the Ducati Lenovo rider closes in on his first MotoGP world title since 2019.
The eight-time world champion has dominated his debut season on a factory Ducati, winning 14 races in a row to open a 175-point lead over brother Alex heading into Barcelona. While Alex was his main rival early in the season, recent podium fights have involved Marco Bezzecchi, Pedro Acosta, Fabio di Giannantonio and rookie Fermin Aldeguer.
“I don’t care,” Marquez said. “In the first part of the championship, I was fighting with Alex. But now, with this advantage, I just try to do my maximum every weekend and it doesn’t matter if it’s di Giannantonio, KTM or Aprilia.”
Marquez compared the variety of challengers to his 2019 title-winning season, stressing consistency as the key. “Some riders could beat me in a single race, but I was always first, second, second, first. That is the most important for the championship. Always be in the top three, even at weak circuits.”
While Pecco Bagnaia has struggled for form, Marquez is confident of maintaining his podium streak at Catalunya despite admitting it is not one of his strongest circuits.
