Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush suffered a knee ligament injury during Egypt’s 0-0 draw with Burkina Faso in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier.
The result kept Egypt firmly on track for qualification, holding a five-point advantage over Burkina Faso in Group A with just two matches remaining.
However, the match brought concern for the Pharaohs as Marmoush was forced off only nine minutes in after a strong challenge.
Team doctor Mohamed Abu El-Ela confirmed the issue as a bruised knee ligament. The Egyptian Football Association stated the player will undergo an X-ray upon returning to Cairo on Wednesday morning.
