Ducati general manager Gigi Dall’Igna praised Alex Marquez as “worthy” of halting Marc Marquez’s dominant run after the Gresini rider triumphed at the Catalan Grand Prix.
Marc Marquez had won every MotoGP race since the Aragon round in June, with a streak of 15 consecutive victories across sprints and grands prix. That dominance looked set to continue in Barcelona after he inherited the sprint win when Alex crashed from the lead.
However, Alex bounced back on Sunday to deliver a flawless ride under immense pressure, taking his second grand prix win of the season and his first head-to-head victory over his older brother.
Dall’Igna lauded the 29-year-old’s performance, calling it his finest weekend in the premier class. “A streak interrupted by a really worthy fighter, an Alex Marquez who also deserved Saturday’s race. Pole, GP win, and fastest lap — all managed like a true champion,” he said.
The Catalan weekend also secured Ducati its sixth straight constructors’ title, with Marc’s sprint victory sealing the crown.
“With this title, we underline the incredible work of the Ducati family — the factory team, satellite squads, and every rider. Six consecutive championships, once unimaginable, now a reality. We already know the riders’ title will also stay within Ducati, which makes this achievement even more special,” Dall’Igna added.
