Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the Premier League after a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, while Manchester City suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday.
Eberechi Eze scored the only goal of the game against his former club, sending Arsenal four points clear at the summit. The result came a day after Liverpool slipped to a 3-2 loss at Brentford, allowing Mikel Arteta’s side to strengthen their title push.
At Villa Park, Matty Cash’s first-half strike handed Aston Villa a fourth straight league win and ended City’s nine-match unbeaten streak across all competitions. Erling Haaland thought he had equalised late on, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Tottenham Hotspur continued their impressive away form with a 3-0 victory over Everton, moving up to third. Defender Micky van de Ven scored a first-half brace before Pape Matar Sarr sealed the result.
Bournemouth’s fine run also continued as they beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 to climb to second, while Burnley grabbed a late winner in a dramatic 3-2 victory over bottom club Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Arsenal now lead the table with 22 points from nine matches, followed by Bournemouth (18), Tottenham and Sunderland (17). At the bottom, Wolves remain winless with just two points from nine games.
