Alex Marquez has described the incredible pride and emotion behind the historic Marquez one-two finish in the 2025 MotoGP World Championship — a first in the sport’s 76-year history.
While nine-time world champion Marc Marquez is sidelined by injury, Alex sealed second place overall after winning the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang, finishing just behind his brother in the final standings.
“It’s the reward for hard work and, above all, for the passion and attitude of a small family that gave everything so their two sons could fulfil their dreams,” Alex said at an Estrella-Galicia event in Madrid.
He added, “We were just two kids from Cervera, a town of eight thousand people, and we’ve finished first and second in MotoGP. It’s something incredible. This is the best gift we could give our parents, who sacrificed everything so we could race.”
Alex celebrated his best-ever MotoGP season with victories at Jerez, Catalunya, and Sepang, and 24 podium finishes overall. His performance also helped Gresini Racing secure the Independent Teams’ title, alongside rookie teammate Fermin Aldeguer.
“I prefer to do my job on track. Being self-critical and honest is important. When things go wrong, you accept it and move forward — not just in racing, but in life,” Alex reflected.
