Fermin Aldeguer has set his sights on a future factory Ducati seat after an impressive debut season in MotoGP with Gresini Racing.
The young Spaniard has been one of the breakout stars of 2025, collecting six podiums — three in Sprint races and three on Sundays — while claiming his maiden MotoGP victory at Mandalika. His strong and consistent performances have also earned him the Rookie of the Year title.
Currently sitting eighth in the championship with 186 points, Aldeguer is determined to build on his momentum in 2026. The 20-year-old’s current contract, a 2+2 agreement with Ducati, keeps him tied to Gresini until 2026, with Ducati holding an option to extend through 2028.
The deal positions Aldeguer as a strong contender for a future factory ride, especially as Ducati continues to evaluate its long-term lineup. While his teammate Alex Marquez will receive the GP26 next season, Aldeguer is expected to remain competitive regardless of the machinery at his disposal.
Speaking to Motorsport España, Aldeguer expressed confidence in Ducati’s long-term vision and his own development path.
“I have a factory contract with Ducati,” he said. “If you have two good seasons, you have the opportunity to join the factory team. It all depends on results and potential. I’m 100% sure that if Ducati sees I’m ready, they’ll give me that seat.”
He added that Ducati’s management has been transparent and supportive, giving him the freedom to focus solely on performance.
“They’re not saying, ‘you’ll join in 2027,’ but they’ve given me peace of mind. If I deliver good results, the opportunity will come.”
Aldeguer’s blend of youth, confidence, and maturity continues to make him one of MotoGP’s most exciting prospects — and Ducati’s next big star in the making.
