Gresini Ducati’s Alex Marquez completed a perfect Friday at the 2025 Portugal MotoGP, topping both FP1 and Practice sessions at Portimao ahead of Francesco Bagnaia and rookie Pedro Acosta.
Morning pace-setter Marquez carried his strong form into the afternoon, leading the timesheets on medium tyres front and rear while many others opted for soft compounds. Despite brief rain interruptions and a crash for Jack Miller at Turn 5, Marquez reclaimed the top spot after Acosta had temporarily gone fastest on new softs.
Bagnaia, who struggled in FP1, rebounded late in the session to secure second place — just 0.030s behind Marquez — avoiding another potential Q1 appearance.
Acosta finished third, followed by Marco Bezzecchi, Joan Mir, and Johann Zarco in the top six. Fabio Quartararo missed out on a top-ten spot, while MotoGP newcomer Nicolo Bulega ended his first day 17th.
Raul Fernandez, who suffered a shoulder injury in a morning crash, returned to the track for Practice with his condition being closely monitored.
