Casemiro set to depart Manchester United at end of season

Manchester United have confirmed that Casemiro will leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

The Brazilian midfielder joined United from Real Madrid in 2022 in a deal worth £70 million and has since made 146 appearances, scoring 21 goals. During his time at Old Trafford, Casemiro quickly became a key figure in midfield and brought valuable experience from his trophy-laden spell in Spain.

United paid tribute to the 33-year-old by acknowledging his winning mentality and contribution to the club, expressing hope that his final months in red can end on a positive note.

Casemiro said he will always carry Manchester United with him, describing his connection to the club and its supporters as something that will stay with him for life. He added that while his departure has been confirmed, he remains fully focused on creating more memories during his final four months at the club.

Casemiro built his reputation at Real Madrid, where he won five Champions League titles. At United, one of his standout moments came in the 2023 League Cup final, when he scored the opening goal against Newcastle as the club secured the trophy and finished third in the Premier League. He did not feature in the FA Cup final win over Manchester City the following season.

One of the club’s highest earners, Casemiro also shared a message on social media, saying he will always consider himself a Red Devil and is determined to give everything for the badge until the end of the season.

Manchester United currently sit fifth in the Premier League table and will next face league leaders Arsenal on Sunday.
