Bayern Munich’s Uli Hoeness lauded Harry Kane as the club’s “best transfer we’ve ever made” after the England captain’s hat-trick led Bayern to a 3-0 victory over Stuttgart in the German Cup final, clinching the club’s 21st cup triumph and a record-extending 14th league and cup double.
Kane’s treble at Berlin’s Olympiastadion took his season tally to a remarkable 61 goals across all competitions, ending Bayern’s six-year German Cup drought in emphatic style. “To hear those kinds of words, at a club like this, we know how many great players have played here, it’s special,” Kane said, beaming after the match.
Kane’s first goal was set up by Michael Olise—who now boasts 30 assists this season—while Luis Diaz created the second and Kane capped the performance with a stoppage-time penalty. The victory added another chapter to Bayern’s dominance in German football, with Hoeness reaffirming, “Bayern are a buying club not a selling club,” dismissing speculation of a Kane move to Barcelona.
The win was business as usual for Bayern, who have now beaten Stuttgart four times this season, including in the Super Cup and Bundesliga title decider. Even Stuttgart’s sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth conceded, “In the end, it was Harry Kane three times – so business as usual.”
While Stuttgart threatened in the first half, Bayern’s quality and Kane’s clinical finishing proved too much. Kane’s hat-trick—his first in a final—secured memories for a lifetime and cemented his place in Bayern folklore as the “best transfer ever.”
