Bulega Dodges VR46 MotoGP Rumors: “Any Colour Is Fine—But Nothing Set in Stone”

After extending his WorldSBK win streak to a record 22 at Aragon, Nicolo Bulega remains coy about swirling rumors linking him to a MotoGP move with VR46 Ducati. Despite dominating WorldSBK and impressing during Ducati’s 850cc prototype tests, Bulega insists that nothing is confirmed for his future.

“To be honest, I don’t have much to say. It [MotoGP] might be a possibility; we’re talking about it, but nothing is set in stone yet,” Bulega told GPOne.com. “Obviously, I’d love it, because MotoGP is a dream for everyone, one I’ve had since I was a kid.”

With Ducati’s 2027 line-up largely settled, the only apparent opening is at VR46—Valentino Rossi’s team, where Bulega began his grand prix career. Rossi has publicly stated a desire to keep at least one Italian on the team, but competition for the seat is fierce, with names like Luca Marini, Celestino Vietti, and Franco Morbidelli also in the mix.

When asked if he’d be happy to ride a signature yellow bike, Bulega joked, “Sure! For a MotoGP bike, I’d even be fine with purple. Any colour is fine…”

If the deal materializes, Bulega would likely partner with Fermin Aldeguer, expected to join VR46 from Gresini. Meanwhile, current VR46 standout Fabio di Giannantonio is tipped to move to the factory KTM team next season.

For now, Bulega is keeping his options open and focus sharp as he continues his dominant WorldSBK campaign, while the MotoGP paddock awaits official confirmation on VR46’s 2027 line-up.
