Jonathan Rea says Honda has “reminded me I’m still fast” after claiming his third Suzuka 8 Hours victory with HRC.
The six-time WorldSBK champion endured two difficult seasons with Yamaha after leaving Kawasaki, but his switch to Honda as a test rider for 2026 gave him the opportunity to return to Suzuka—and return to the top step of the podium.
“I’m incredibly grateful to HRC and Honda for this opportunity.”
Rea admitted the past few years had been mentally challenging but said the Honda package restored his confidence.
“The last three or four seasons have been tough mentally, but this bike has been incredible. I’d almost forgotten what it feels like to overtake people on the straight!”
The victory marks a memorable comeback for the Northern Irishman, who believes the success has reaffirmed that he can still compete at the highest level.
