Yari Montella has confirmed he will remain with the Barni Ducati team for the 2027 WorldSBK season, extending a partnership that’s grown stronger since their World Supersport days. The all-Italian duo—together since 2023—will now enter their fifth season as a team.
After a challenging rookie WorldSBK campaign, Montella has found his form in 2026. The 26-year-old currently sits third in the championship standings, boasting eight podiums from the first eight rounds, including a remarkable run of seven podiums in the last ten races.
While a move to a factory team might have seemed the logical next step for a rider with such momentum, Montella has opted to stick with Barni, prioritizing the strong bond and stability they’ve built together.
“Reconfirming another year with Barni was one of my goals after a strong first half of the season,” Montella said. “With five years together now, we’ve built a relationship where we’ve celebrated and struggled side by side, and that continuity means a lot to me. For now, though, the focus remains on 2026, which is shaping up to be a crucial year for us.”
Barni Spark Racing team principal Marco Barnabo echoed Montella’s sentiment, highlighting the trust and progress made: “We’re proud to renew with Yari because our work and commitment together are delivering results. We know there’s still one more step to become competitive everywhere, but we believe continuing this journey with Yari is the right path.”
Barnabo also thanked Ducati and the team’s sponsors for their ongoing support, emphasizing that Montella’s renewal is a key move in Barni’s push for even greater success.
With his future now secure, Montella is free to focus on maintaining his impressive run through the rest of 2026—while Barni Ducati looks to build on their momentum in WorldSBK.
