The U.S. offense was on fire, hitting 20 of their first 26 shots and building a 59-30 halftime advantage—the highest-scoring first half in U.S. knockout game history at the tournament.
Defensively, the U.S. stifled Hungary’s star Dorka Juhasz, holding her to just two points on 1-of-12 shooting. Hungary still achieved its best-ever World Cup finish by reaching the quarterfinals.
The win extends Team USA’s tournament winning streak to 34 games, with their last loss coming in the 2006 semifinals. The U.S. will face the winner of the Spain-Australia quarterfinal on Saturday in the medal round, aiming to continue their historic run.
