Tech3 CEO Guenther Steiner believes Luca Marini’s unique blend of experience, calmness, and methodical approach makes him the ideal fit for Tech3’s MotoGP team as the series enters the new 850cc/Pirelli era in 2027.
Marini, set to join Tech3 after stints with Ducati and Honda, will pair with rookie Senna Agius in an all-new line-up. Steiner emphasized the importance of Marini’s temperament and experience: “He is a very thoughtful person. He is not emotional, he is thinking things through, and that is what I think we need here. Just calm down and move on.”
Steiner is keen on instilling a culture of “methodical working, making progress, giving ourselves time. Not being slow, but giving ourselves time to make the right decision.” He believes Marini’s approach will help balance the team, especially alongside a rookie: “Some MotoGP riders are very anxious all the time. Sometimes it’s a case of ‘slow down to hurry up’… That is my opinion about Luca, and when I speak with him, he seems to be that kind of person.”
Steiner summed up his philosophy: “In a team, you need a mix to get the best… If you have a lot of good ingredients, you get a good soup, you know!”
Marini, currently the top Honda RC213V rider in the world championship, brings a steady presence to Tech3 as the team prepares for a new chapter in MotoGP.
Meanwhile, current Tech3 rider Enea Bastianini will move to Trackhouse Aprilia, and Maverick Vinales—Marini’s future predecessor—has yet to confirm his plans for 2027.
