Donnarumma Denies Zidane First Home Win

Zinedine Zidane’s first home game as France manager ended in a 1-1 draw against Italy, with Gianluigi Donnarumma producing a series of crucial saves to deny Les Bleus.

Michael Olise gave France the lead in the 55th minute with a brilliant curling finish, but Alessandro Bastoni levelled in the 68th after France were caught out playing from the back.

Donnarumma was the difference, making seven saves, including a double stop from Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué, before denying Adrien Rabiot and Eduardo Camavinga late on. France were also reduced to 10 men after Dayot Upamecano’s second yellow card.

It ends Zidane’s perfect start after wins over Turkey and Belgium, although France remain top of their Nations League group with seven points.

Was Donnarumma the real reason France dropped points, or did Zidane’s side simply fail to finish their chances?
