Aston Martin enjoyed its best qualifying result of the 2026 season at Sepang, with Fernando Alonso taking 12th and Lance Stroll 14th for the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
It was the first time this season that both Aston Martin cars reached Q2. Alonso called it their best qualifying performance of the year, while Stroll described P14 as their most competitive result so far.
However, Alonso is refusing to get carried away. The Spaniard pointed out that Aston Martin still lacks straight-line performance and said the car simply appears better suited to Sepang’s characteristics. He also expects tyre management to be a major factor in the race.
