KTM rider Pedro Acosta believes Pol Espargaro deserves another full-time MotoGP seat after his strong performances in 2025 as a test rider.
Espargaro, the 2014 Moto2 champion, made his MotoGP debut with Tech3 Yamaha before competing with KTM and Honda. His career momentum was disrupted in 2023 after a major crash in Portugal that kept him out for the first half of the season.
Although Espargaro had a contract to race full-time with Tech3 KTM in 2024, he stepped back to focus on recovery and transitioned to a test rider role. He returned for several wildcard appearances in 2024 and delivered solid results again in 2025, finishing inside the top 10 in four of the five races he entered.
Acosta praised Espargaro’s impact on KTM’s development and his competitiveness during race weekends, saying teams should consider him for a permanent place on the grid. He highlighted Espargaro’s consistent speed, Q2 appearances, strong race pace and valuable support behind the scenes.
Espargaro had considered moving to World Superbikes but will remain as KTM’s test rider next season.
