Alex Marquez cleared for German MotoGP but to be re-evaluated after FP1

Alex Marquez has been declared fit to start this weekend’s German MotoGP at Sachsenring, but his condition will be reassessed after Friday’s FP1 session.

The Gresini Ducati rider, currently second in the standings behind his brother Marc, fractured his left hand during a high-speed crash at Assen after contact with Pedro Acosta. Following immediate surgery, Marquez has returned to action with a cautious mindset.

“I’m going session by session, listening to my body,” said Marquez. “I feel fit to ride, but I’ll be realistic if pain appears.”

With wet weather forecast, Marquez admitted the conditions could be a double-edged sword: “You need to be smoother in the wet, but it also increases the risk of crashing. I prefer dry conditions.”

Both Marquez and Acosta, who also visited hospital in Assen due to an allergic reaction, are back on track for FP1.
