Alex Marquez says the public has witnessed just a fraction of the challenges behind Marc Marquez’s road back to MotoGP glory.
Six years after his last title in 2019, Marc overcame four arm surgeries, two bouts of diplopia, and the struggles of an uncompetitive Honda before becoming world champion again in 2025 with Ducati.
Alex, who played a pivotal role in convincing his brother to join Gresini Ducati in 2024, praised Marc’s resilience after his title-clinching ride at Motegi.
“I never had doubts that he would come back strong,” Alex said. “People at home see only 10% of the comeback, not the 100%. I had the honour of seeing it first-hand. He deserves this more than anyone.”
Admitting he felt “a weight off his shoulders” as Marc’s last title rival, Alex reflected on the intense spotlight of the Japanese GP weekend, where he finished sixth.
Marc’s 2025 triumph makes him a seven-time MotoGP world champion, drawing level with Valentino Rossi.
