Alex Marquez Gains Confidence Despite Fifth-Place Finish at Dramatic 2025 British MotoGP

Alex Marquez may have finished fifth in the 2025 British MotoGP main race, but the Spanish rider remains optimistic following a dramatic weekend at Silverstone. After securing victory in the Sprint Race, Marquez was the first to fall at Turn 1 during the main event. However, a red flag caused by an oil spill following a collision between Franco Morbidelli and Aleix Espargaro gave him a second chance to restart.

The crash didn’t deter Marquez, who managed to rejoin the race and finish fifth. He admitted to pushing too hard at the start, which led to his initial fall.

“After winning in Jerez, this result doesn’t hurt too much, but we definitely missed a good opportunity,” Marquez said. “The red flag helped me, and we leave Silverstone with only two points less but with more confidence after a strong race.”

Marco Bezzecchi claimed victory, followed by Johann Zarco and Marc Marquez. The race also saw multiple early incidents, including crashes involving Marc Marquez, Morbidelli, and Espargaro.

Fermin Aldeguer, who started strong but also made a mistake, expressed frustration with his final result. “It’s a shame because we had good rhythm. The wind made control difficult, and while the minimum goal was achieved, I’m not satisfied,” Aldeguer shared.

Alex Marquez remains in second place in the 2025 MotoGP World Championship standings with 172 points, while Aldeguer has dropped to tenth with 55 points.

Rommy Averdy Saat, Market Development Manager of PT ExxonMobil Lubricants Indonesia (PT EMLI), praised both riders for their performance throughout the weekend.

“Alex showed impressive form by winning the Sprint Race. The red flag restart gave him a valuable opportunity to secure more points in the championship fight,” Rommy said.

“Fermin is also proving himself as a rising talent, consistently staying in the top 10. The 2025 season is still long, and we at Federal Oil™ continue to support Alex and Fermin to aim for double podiums and a potential world title.”
