Álex Márquez: ‘I’m the One Who Needs to Deliver Results, but a Good Bike Eases the Pressure’

Last season, Álex Márquez shared the Gresini garage with his brother, Marc Márquez, which meant he wasn’t expected to lead the team. However, this came with other challenges—particularly intense media attention and the pressure of competing alongside an eight-time world champion.

Reflecting on the experience, Álex acknowledged both its positives and negatives: “Having Marc is great for some things and tough for others—especially the pressure. The level of attention in the garage was really high.”

Now, with rookie Fermín Aldeguer as his teammate, Márquez is the clear team leader. However, he feels less pressure, thanks to having a competitive bike: “The team expects me to deliver results, but when you have a good bike and feel great on it, the pressure disappears. You only feel it when you’re struggling. But when you’re fast and can ride the way you want, it’s not an issue.”

Márquez also reaffirmed his confidence in Gresini’s setup: “We have a great team, and we’re relaxed because we know we have everything we need to achieve good results.”
