Gresini rider Alex Marquez says he feels “free” and ready to “take some risks” at the Portuguese Grand Prix now that he has secured the runner-up spot in the MotoGP standings.
After completing a memorable Marquez family 1-2 at the Malaysian GP and clinching his third win of the season, Alex heads into Portimao with less pressure and renewed confidence.
“Less pressure, because nobody said to me I’m the favourite one!” he joked. “Now that I’m the 2025 runner-up, I can ride a bit more freely and focus on improving ahead of 2026.”
The Spaniard added that the final rounds will serve as preparation for next season, aiming to end the year strong and enjoy the final races.
“It’s true we can take some risks because we’re not fighting for the championship anymore. What matters is to enjoy the weekend and give our maximum,” he said.
